Oil Creek 100 Trail Runs is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization through Road Runners Club of America's (RRCA) group exemption status - for the betterment and promotion of Oil Creek State Park, PA's natural resources, the entire Oil Region, and long distance trail running.
Oil Creek State Park was the 2010 National Gold Medal "Grand Award" winner for excellence in park and recreation management:

The race sponsored the bronze plaque & tree to be planted at the park on behalf of the groups outstanding service to the park and the Gerard Hiking Trail ! Dave Hallman, Park Manager, nominated them for the award and presented it to them. The OTHG was represented by Denny Pattison (blue windbreaker), Duane Whitehill (khaki coat with blue collar), and Dennis Hartle (khaki coat & hat). Tom Jennings (green OC100 sweatshirt), Race Director of OC100, presented the plaque in the right photo.

Jim Roeder presented Ed Burns with a check for the association's support of youth athletics and physical fitness in Titusville, and for the association's cooperation in moving a football game and their banquet to another weekend so it would not conflict with the race at the middle school.

8/28/2010 - race purchases lumber & hardware to rebuild a foot bridge on east Gerard Hiking Trail's northern section near Jersey Bridge / Drake Well Musuem:

April 2010 - race purchases lumber & hardware to rebuild bridge on west GHT at Boughton Acid Works
The first bridge encountered on the trail was rebuilt on May 22nd by Boy Scout Cameron Peebles for his Eagle Scout badge, with the assistance of the Over The Hill Gang and several volunteers that helped position the heavy (275 lb) beams. The bridge was rebuilt approx. 50' downstream from the old bridge.

2009's pre-race meeting and pasta dinner's 50-50 drawing netted $500 for the food bank - thanks to the winner donating his portion back to the food bank (thank you) ! Also, 100 mile finisher, race GOLD level sponsor and Erie chiropractor Dr. Daniel Young donated $100 to the food bank as well. Some of the race proceeds will be donated to the "Over-The-Hill Gang" (OTHG) that established the Gerard Hiking Trail in 1982 and has maintained it since with no financial support. Ray Gerard was the founder of the OTHG and the trail - click here to read the story of the trail's creation.
